Do Values Make a Difference?
"Our mission is to walk alongside small-medium sized companies as they learn the art and science of growth through strategic planning, execution, and coaching so they can be what God has called business to be in the world."
During my round of interviews, this mission statement would repeatedly glare at me. It begged the question, "Do I believe in this?" Early on, I learned that each team member entirely bought into this and pursued this mission well. If I join the Axiom team, is this the mission I can get behind and commit to serving Axiom and its clients?
Joining the Axiom team required me to understand whether I was called to this line of work and whether it would be at Axiom. There is a significant parallel here. Without a proper calling for this line of work, I would not be effective in drawing our clients to be the business God has called them to be. In other words, our team is most effective when we recognize our calling to serve our clients and commit to holding each other accountable according to our core values.
Core Values? Let me tell you more about how we at Axiom most effectively help our clients by applying our core values of care, truth, diligence, and learning.
Our Value of Care
We love those that we serve. Axiom has had the privilege of working with clients, business partners, and referral contacts that have elevated our commitment to working with small businesses seeking to maximize their capabilities. Given our experience, we understand that leading and growing a small business is hard. Quite often, business leaders are overwhelmed, frustrated, and confused. Our team seeks to meet them where they are and help them identify the areas causing the most significant challenges.
Our Value of Truth
We speak the truth even when it is hard to hear and hard to say. This is the most effective way of working with our clients. It would not be formative for our clients to work with a team of consultants unwilling to address the elephant in the room and drive the conversation toward real issues. Applied with care, we seek to guide business leaders in truth to drive results.
Our Value of Diligence
We bring the right amount of work to the task. A competitive small business has a dynamic landscape of challenges and tasks. We recognize that priorities are vital in identifying and achieving critical results. Our team is not interested in overloading with work but seeks to help our clients have a tangible roadmap of tasks to bring long-lasting results.
Our Value of Learning
We are humble and seek to understand more each day. Many of our client meetings involve asking questions. It is much more effective to help our clients find the answers themselves to reveal blindspots and misunderstandings. In our relationship with our clients, we seek to walk alongside our business leaders and are committed to learning together every day.
Do I believe in Axiom's mission? Absolutely. Does everyone else on the Axiom team believe in the mission as well? Undoubtedly. When we get that right, we most effectively work with our clients.
